CONSCIOUS LIVING WITH DOGS

Meet Charlotte, she is a long-term dog lover who in 2019 founded tadazhi – a modern pet brand based in Denmark. She believes our four-legged family members deserves only the best when it comes to sustainable quality and that their families need to maintain a harmonious home. With her design she challenges the conventional way of thinking dog accessories and turn ordinary dog accessories into timeless interiors to our homes and beautiful accessories for our dogs.

IN CONVERSATION WITH CHARLOTTE

My home is the center of my life, it is where I wind down at the end of a long day, celebrate friendships and most importantly make memories with family, all in a relaxed harmonic atmosphere.

I like our interiors to have a simple elegant look in an understated and timeless way, as for me this is the essence of harmony or balance if you will. Together with muted colors and soft natural textiles, my home has become the surroundings where I relax and regain my energy the most.

When living with two small children and a dog, Tobine, quite some exercises are required to keep up the balance of our home. Particularly when it comes to Tobine’s interior and to be honest it took a while before I understood how she would use the different rooms, as it depended (of course) of where we were as well. However, I finally worked out that Tobine preferred to rest either in the dining room or the living room.

Both our dining and living room have beautiful wooden floors, off-white walls, and a ceiling of stucco. Our interior in the dining room is from MDF Italia, a simple white rectangular table. Dining chairs are the Vitra Eames chair in off-white and Arne Jacobsen’s Seven chair in black. All chairs have steel legs. For the dining room I chose to place a donut bed for Tobine in Light brown next to the wall. The Light brown color reminded me of a cashew nut, and I wanted to add yet another reference to nature besides from the floor to the room, to soften up the room. Also, the round shape of the donut bed was a discrete way to counteract the rectangular dining table and complement the curves of the dining chairs.

Our Living room is a different story interior wise as so much more is going on compared to the dining room. A bookshelf fills the entire back wall. In front of the bookshelf, we have we have a linen rug on which we have placed a pale blue couch, a beige coffee table from HAY and a chair made from woods with a leather seat and back. Since Tobine often enjoys resting in the couch, I placed a dog duvet in couch the color sand. The dog duvet has a simple rectangular shape which connects well to the couch. The dog duvet’s surface is quiet not versatile like a blanket, which in my view makes it visually appealing and invoke the feeling of tranquility.

The fabrics of both the donut dog bed and the dog duvet are GOTS certified organic cotton canvas, as we really prioritise a clean healthy home environment also for our four-legged family member
